Choosing to use the correct radio frequency identification technology is the key to the success of this project. Although there are many suppliers of basic radio frequency identification technology in the domestic market, the top three companies in terms of product standardization, technological advancement and market share are Philips, TI and Siemens. Among many radio frequency identification technologies, Philips’ Hitag® technology is a relatively advanced technology for industrial applications released by Philips in 1996, and it is also the type of technology currently used in similar applications in Europe.

Hitag®’s carrier frequency is 125KHz, and it uses excellent modulation and demodulation methods, making it particularly suitable for use in metal environments. In addition, Philips also provides us with strong technical support for the underlying hardware, so that we can directly apply its RF ASIC chip, and optimize the RF performance of the special harsh environment of the steel cylinder through the underlying optimization methods. After hard work, our radio frequency read-write unit worked stably and reliably when performing radio frequency authentication and read-write operations on the tags fixed on the cylinders, and achieved very satisfactory results. It is especially worth mentioning that in similar systems (using 13.56MHz radio frequency identification technology), the cylinder label must be supported by an unshielded structure to keep it away from the outer wall of the cylinder, supplemented by ferrite shielding means. Normal read and write. In our system, this is completely unnecessary. All tags directly fixed on the outer wall can be authenticated and read and written normally, and the connection is very reliable.

The radio frequency identification monitoring system for gas storage cylinders is a system that uses advanced radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, combined with microelectronics technology, computer technology, network technology and automatic control technology to track, manage and control gas cylinders (pressure vessels) throughout the process. Solution platform. The whole system is composed of four subsystems: technology supervision subsystem, issuance management subsystem, filling management subsystem and inspection management subsystem.

Technical Supervision Subsystem

It is built and deployed on the administrative management platform of the quality and technology supervision department. The main function is to formulate the management policy and technical benchmarks of the entire system, conduct statistical analysis of data from other subsystems, and provide support for the administrative management of the technical supervision department.

Issuance management subsystem

It can be flexibly installed and deployed in various places according to needs. Its main function is to provide issuance, production and testing support for a huge number of radio frequency tags for gas storage cylinders.

Filling management subsystem

The construction is deployed at the filling site of gas storage cylinders. Its main function is to automatically control the initial filling process of steel cylinders based on the data recorded on the radio frequency tags of the steel cylinders and the filling standard data established by the regulatory authority.

Inspection management subsystem

The construction is deployed in a designated inspection agency. The main function is to provide computerized support for the inspection of steel cylinders, and to write inspection data to the cylinder labels.

Development status and trends at home and abroad in related technical fields:

The identification technology of gas storage cylinders is different from the identification technology of general medicines, beverages and other containers, mainly in two aspects:

First, gas storage cylinders are generally placed and working in industrial sites with very harsh environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, dirt, electromagnetics, etc., so traditional bar code, magnetic and contact identification technologies are difficult to use;

Second, in order to resist the high pressure (or negative pressure) in the bottle, the gas storage cylinders are generally steel containers, so the application effect of the conventional 13.56MHz carrier frequency radio frequency identification technology is also very unsatisfactory; therefore, this field has always been smart Blank areas of identification technology. Because it is difficult to realize the intelligent identification of individual steel cylinders, the current domestic steel cylinder filling management generally can only stay at the level of automatic weight/flow control.

At present, a few foreign developed countries such as Germany have adopted smart radio frequency tags (Philips Hitag® technology) for filling and tracking management of steel cylinders. The filling equipment can automatically determine safety science based on the information recorded by the radio frequency smart tags fixed on the cylinders. The filling parameters can automatically refuse filling for unqualified steel cylinders or illegal steel cylinders, which better solves the old and difficult problems that have been plagued by technical supervision functions. It is currently the most advantageous high-tech means for technical supervision of steel cylinders. However, these on-site control systems can only be used on assembly line filling equipment, and are completely unsuitable for manual/semi-manual filling modes that are widely distributed and existing in China, and the cost of each gun is as high as 4000 US dollars.

Radio frequency identification in a metal environment (highlights)

Choosing to use the correct radio frequency identification technology is the key to the success of this project. Although there are many suppliers of basic radio frequency identification technology in the domestic market, the top three companies in terms of product standardization, technological advancement and market share are Philips, TI and Siemens. Among many radio frequency identification technologies, Philips’ Hitag® technology is a relatively advanced technology for industrial applications released by Philips in 1996, and it is also the type of technology currently used in similar applications in Europe. It is particularly worth mentioning that in the current similar system in Shanghai (using 13.56MHz radio frequency identification technology), the cylinder label must be supported by an unshielded structure to keep it away from the outer wall of the cylinder, supplemented by ferrite shielding means In order to achieve normal reading and writing. In our system, this is completely unnecessary. All tags directly fixed on the outer wall can be authenticated and read and written normally, and the connection is very reliable.

Technical risk analysis

If the explosion-proof performance is insufficient

The application environment of this project is a very flammable and explosive dangerous place. If the explosion-proof safety design of the equipment has hidden dangers or insufficient margin, very serious safety accidents may occur. This may be the biggest risk in the technical work of this project.

Lifeng carefully adopted the intrinsically safe circuit design form, but consciously lowered its positioning of this safety standard, treating it as a non-intrinsically safe device, supplemented by epoxy resin encapsulation. Explosion-proof and reinforced form, strive to be foolproof. At the same time, it has adopted a very rigorous and serious attitude towards the issue of equipment entering the site. All equipment must obtain a national explosion-proof certificate in accordance with the law before entering the site.

Metal environment causes degradation of radio frequency performance

The influence of the metal environment causes unreliability in the authentication and reading of the radio frequency tag fixed on the cylinder, which is a possible risk. However, due to the use of Hitag® technology from Philips, one of the world’s leading RFID manufacturers, this risk is reduced to a minimum.

The main reason is:

First of all, Hitag®’s radio frequency carrier frequency is 125KHz, which has very good inherent advantages for reading and writing in a metal environment. However, other radio frequency identification technologies with a carrier frequency of 13.56MHz (such as Mifare®) are not ideal for application in a metal environment;

Secondly, in the standard application mode of Hitag® (see Philips related technical documents), the radio frequency label and identification of steel cylinders is one of them. Moreover, it has been applied in a large area in Germany, so it is relatively mature and has low application risk.

This project adopts Hitag®, a very standardized, mature and applicable industrial radio frequency identification technology that complies with the international standard ISO15693, and uses independent intellectual property rights in the project to boldly carry out pioneering innovations, and rationally optimize them based on China’s national conditions. For some standard industrial components in the system, a reliable, direct and fast integration method is adopted to form a system with excellent product comprehensive cost-effectiveness.
